It gives us immense pleasure to inform that the subsidy contract for the realization of BALTWRECK project was officially signed on Oct 21, 2024 in Gdańsk (Fig.1), during the signing ceremony, attended by the Polish Deputy Ministers of Funds and Regional Policy, Jacek Karnowski and Konrad Wojnarowski.
At the headquarters of the Institute of Fluid-Flow Machinery Polish Academy of Sciences (Instytut Maszyn Przepływowych im. R. Szewalskiego, Polska Akademia Nauk (IMP PAN)), the official signing of contract for project funding under the Interreg South Baltic Programme took place. The contract concerned project: 𝘽𝘼𝙇𝙏𝙒𝙍𝙀𝘾𝙆 – 𝙋𝙧𝙚𝙫𝙚𝙣𝙩𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙢𝙖𝙨𝙨𝙞𝙫𝙚 𝙢𝙖𝙧𝙞𝙣𝙚 𝙬𝙖𝙩𝙚𝙧𝙨 𝙘𝙝𝙚𝙢𝙞𝙘𝙖𝙡 𝙥𝙤𝙡𝙡𝙪𝙩𝙞𝙤𝙣 𝙛𝙧𝙤𝙢 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙡𝙚𝙖𝙠𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙬𝙧𝙚𝙘𝙠𝙨 𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝙢𝙪𝙣𝙞𝙩𝙞𝙤𝙣/ 𝙬𝙚𝙖𝙥𝙤𝙣 𝙙𝙪𝙢𝙥𝙨 𝙞𝙣 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙎𝙤𝙪𝙩𝙝 𝘽𝙖𝙡𝙩𝙞𝙘,
The agreement was signed between IMP PAN, and the Ministry of Funds and Regional Policy (Ministerstwo Funduszy i Polityki Regionalnej). Representing the ministry at the event were Deputy Minister dr n. pr. Konrad Wojnarowski and Deputy Minister Jacek Karnowski. The ceremony was also attended by local government officials from the Pomeranian region, scientists, and representatives of the academic community.
As Jacek Karnowski, Deputy Minister of Funds and Regional Policy, pointed out in his speech, the wrecks lying on the bottom of the Baltic Sea need to be secured as soon as possible to prevent an ecological disaster that could affect the Baltic Sea.
